Hi everyone, welcome to Spiritual Growth with Toni Joy.
When I experienced the supernatural power of the Fruit of the Spirit “Peace”, I knew that was the way I wanted to live the rest of my life; it was truly exhilarating because I learned the beauty of casting my cares on the Lord. It Is the peace of God, along with all the other fruits that makes us different from the world. In this post, it is my deepest desire for you to see it, desire it, receive it, and walk in it.
The Fruit of the Spirit – Peace
In Eph. 6:14,15 it says that we are to take our stand in truth and righteousness, with our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. What does that mean? We are to have our footing and foundation firmly planted in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, and who we are in Him – it’s who we are in Him that gives us the mind of Christ, 1Cor. 2:16.
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
John 14:26.27
The world has something to give (I’ll leave that there :), but we know all good things come from God, our peace can only be found in Jesus. How do we grab hold of this peace – Jesus said come onto Him all that are heaven laden and take His yoke for it is easy and it is light Matt. 11:28-30. We choose to live in the peace of God or the chaos of the world. We choose our reality. We are in the world, but our new nature is of God.
We will settle in our state in this world, or rise in our stance in Christ
The world is begging for you, tricking you, trying to seduce you – to steal, kill, and destroy you. You can see it, feel it, and know it; That may be your state in this world, but your life is in Jesus – you’re no longer subject to the ways of this world – you’re subject to and in the likeness of your creator; Greater is He that is you, than he that is in the world.
State in this world: The word state can refer to a way of living or existing. It can also refer to the overall physical condition of something. In the context of human psychology, a state can refer to a person’s emotional or mental state, such as feeling happy or anxious.
Stance in Life: A person’s life stance refers to their relation with what they accept as being of ultimate importance. It involves presuppositions and commitment to exercise it in theory and practice in one’s life.
Definitions from Wikipedia
Jesus delivered us from the darkness of this world (Col. 1:13); the world and its troubles don’t belong to us, yet we pick them up as if our troubles have value, we wear worry like a badge of honor. Worry grows into stress, then to sickness, then to death. The failure rate of what the world has to offer is staggering. I can’t count the many times “I” thought I had it together to find that I wasn’t even close. I mentioned in the first paragraph the beauty of casting our cares on the Lord, then taking our stand having our footing and foundation in the gospel of peace – both to bring you to this: we have heard plenty of people at work, home, and many other places and situations that say “it ain’t my job”, and they won’t do it or touch it – they avoid it like the plaque. We should avoid the ways of the world like the plaque.
The world ain’t our job
This might just be the truest time to use this statement. Jesus said, “I will give you rest“. I know you have heard, “Let go and let God” and “The battle is not yours”. Sounds like God is trying to tell us something. We use these statements very flippantly – but let’s take God at His word. We cannot walk in the peace of God without letting go and let God; it’s two-fold. God wants us to pursue the Kingdom of God, not the fallen/sin-filled world and the worlds way of doing things, Matt. 6:31-34.
I mentioned how exhilarating it is to walk in the Fruit of the Spirit Peace… we think it’s our job to take care of everything that arises in our life – if it is not arising from God, it’s not our responsibility. Ok, maybe you want to take pride in what you do. I will tell you like God told me, “If you like a lower way of living, go right on ahead of Me”. And yes He did tell me that, in a specific conversation that we were having one day – I have to tell you about it one day. I was delivered from pride, thank God. The supernatural power of peace will take you into the “rest of God” – dissolving all anxiety and unsettledness with you trusting in God to lead your every move, your thoughts, and your emotions – with joy …For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind, 1Tim. 1:7. You will see pass the natural lining and know the will of God in everything you do. Saleh (meditate).
When the entire world around us is in chaos, we have the peace of God… our lot in life is in Christ.
Peace sees God’s view in every situation – even when your feelings and intellect haven’t caught up yet, trust the Holy Spirit to comfort you. Live life from the top of the world, not under it.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Phil. 4:6-9 NLT
